Tucked away in Miskolctapolca is one of our country's most unique and intimate rock-hewn sanctuaries. The Heart of Jesus Rock Chapel was created in the first half of the 20th century, thanks to Szabó Pius, a field dean of Transylvanian origin. Its hillside facade is protected by stately pine trees, allowing it to remain almost imperceptibly nestled on Brassói Street. Popular among the local faithful, its pews are always full during Sunday mass, yet it also serves as a beautiful destination for pilgrims and tourists visiting Miskolctapolca. Visitors enter the chapel through a traditional Székely gate, which has been welcoming guests since 1995. The gate was crafted in honor of Szabó Pius, the visionary behind the rock chapel. The interior is open for visits on Sunday mornings.
Like a castle from our childhood fairy tales… An unmissable experience awaits with the Lillafüred Waterfall, the Palace Hotel, and the Hanging Gardens with their 6 thematic terraces, offering unparalleled sights in every season! The Lillafüred Palace Hotel was built between 1927 and 1930 in Neo-Renaissance style, and towering over Lake Hámori, it is Lillafüred's most iconic building. It is a symbol of the region, where writer's congresses and cultural events were once held. The Lillafüred Hanging Gardens were built in terraces below the hotel. They feature unique thematic sections (such as the Poetry, Music, and Sculpture terraces), making them one of the most beautiful spots for romantic strolls in the Bükk Mountains. The Lillafüred Waterfall is Hungary's highest vertical waterfall, approximately 20 meters high. Interestingly, it was artificially created during the construction of the Palace Hotel, yet it blends perfectly into its natural surroundings. In winter, it often freezes into a spectacular ice curtain. It holds a unique literary significance as Attila József wrote his poem 'Ode' here; in the Hanging Gardens, his statue and an excerpt from the poem can be seen carved into the rocks.

Starting from an urban environment, near Diósgyőr Castle, its trains take you to numerous attractions along cliffs, through gorges and tunnels! During your journey, winding through the Garadna Valley along the shore of Lake Hámori, you can reach the Lillafüred Palace Hotel, the waterfall, the caves, and the Újmassa Ancient Blast Furnace.
In 2022, the Zsófia Lookout in Lillafüred became the Lookout of the Year! From the Zsófia Lookout, a wonderful panorama unfolds over the slopes of the Bükk Mountains, Lake Hámori, and the building of the Lillafüred Palace Hotel. The two-story larch wood building is nearly twenty meters high. The hiking trail leading to the lookout tower branches off halfway, with its other path leading to the Szeleta Cave. You can also visit the Zsófia Lookout by traveling on the Lillafüred Forest Railway. Admission: Visiting the lookout is completely free. Opening hours: Open all year round, continuously and freely accessible.
